This first session is themed "O Adamastor num aquário - Olhar(es) sobre um oceano desconhecido" ["Adamastor in an aquarium - Viewpoints on an unknown ocean", free translation] ; in case you don't knowm, the Adamastor is a mythological character created by the Portuguese poet Luís de Camões in his epic poem Os Lusíadas, and it embodies the dangers of the sea and the formidable forces of nature.

The issues under debate include, for example, questioning our knowledge on marine life, how do humans impact on oceans and what can be done to preserving oceans and seas? Why is the sea so appealing to humans?

This cycle of debates will run throughout the year, always on the first Thursdays of each month, under the umbrella topic of environmental sustainability and its related social, cultural and economic impact.
