Porto is listed as a "global superpower city", where visitors can have a taste of "centuries-old" monuments and rewarding experiences, says Condé Nast Traveler.

The 33rd annual Readers' Choice Awards survey provides a clear picture about where travellers "in the world go to" and "what they loved" the most. The chosen destinations were picked because of their "food, wine, architecture, and art". And it is no surprise that Porto has all that and so much more. Perfection in cobbled narrowed streets, ancient true heritage and city soul as residents are heart welcoming as only they can be.

This is Porto, Portugal; a city that Condé Nast Traveler describes as "modern and traditional meeting" and where "chefs, artists, and designers are bringing a new spirit to the city's old-world appeal".

Monuments like the Igreja de São Francisco, of Gothic architecture, have become a reference for visitors who are met with almost mystical landscapes, especially nearby the riverfront area, where the river Douro meets the Atlantic. That is how you sense a city has a soul, when you encounter displays of public art as the traditional Azulejos (hand-painted tiles) on every ancient building or taste a galão, that you can define (more or less) as café latte; but you have to come and have a taste of it in one of the many marvellous cafés or patios in Porto, downtown or in the city centre.

And know this: whatever the weather, Porto is a timeless glamour destination in the North of Portugal.
