This season, Porto Municipal Theatre (TMP) features both in-person and online performances. The TMP invited eight artists to provide a special artistic creation and offer audiences new insights on the cultural realm.

The duos integrate a director and a performance artist that will take to the stage different art languages and an all-new project exclusively meant for the online platform. The project is called PAR(S) – Artes Performativas e Imagem Online [Online Performance Arts and Image”, free translation] and it kicks on 1st December, with Cláudia Varejão and Joana Castro, director and choreographer and dancer, respectively.

The first project that will go onstage is “Ø ilha”, which refers to “seasoned and shaped territories by inner and ambient time”. The creators state, “this is an island that has different landscapes within one big one” and that “between the silence and intimacy new islands care created, in a possible encounter between life and death. The video is on show at the TMP website between 1st and 31st December.

Next year, the PAR(S) project will feature three new moments, delivered by the duo Diogo Baldaia and Daniel Seabra (available from 1st to 28th February 2021), the duo Pedro Neves Marques and Teresa Coutinho (from 1st to 31st March 2021) and the duo Sofia Arriscado and Constanza Givone (between 1st and 30th June 2021).

This project is the result of TMP’s commitment to deliver new presentation formats, creation and ways of working, namely the digital format. This is also part of the strategy aimed at expanding the Theatre’s body of work to new audiences and in different places.
