Porto is the third best destination for 2020, according to TripAdvisor

Porto reached podium position in The Travellers' Choice award, by TripAdvisor, regarding accommodation, best hotels and tours. This review is based on ratings and traveller interest on TripAdvisor over 2019.

TripAdvisor states that Porto, which "sets on the Douro River in northern Portugal", "is fast becoming the number one city break for European travellers".

Porto, the "medieval city" ranks third in the 2020 Travellers' Choice Awards, only superseded by the coastal town of Kochi, in India, and Luzon, the largest and most populous island in the Philippines.

These are the destinations that boosted major interest on TripAdvisor over 2019, according to the travel website TripAdvisor, which has spotlighted Porto among the winners of its 2020 Travellers' Choice Destination awards.

These awards recognise the places which have seen the biggest increases in positive reviews and ratings, and are based on millions of evaluations and opinions from travellers from around the world, highlighting the very best tourism establishments in terms of service, quality, customer satisfaction, transportation, lodging, travel experiences, and restaurants.

The Travellers' Choice award was established in 2002, and is the highest honour TripAdvisor can bestow.
