After signing a cooperation deal, in 2018, between the municipalities of Porto and Timisoara (Romania) – in a session that happened in Paços do Concelho, and in which the president of Porto City Hall, Rui Moreira, and his Romanian counterpart, Nicolae Robu -, the current mayor of the Municipality of Timisoara, Dominic Fritz, was greeted, this Monday, in Paços do Concelho, by the mayor of City Hall.

Rui Moreira and Dominic Fritz had the opportunity to straighten the cooperative relations that unite these two cities. This year, Timisoara is the European Capital of Culture – “Shine your light – Light up the city!” is the event’s theme -, being that the mayor of Porto City Hall was in its inauguration, in February.

The Romanian politician signed the Municipality of Porto’s roll of honour, in Paços do Concelho, followed by a visit to Mercado do Bolhão, with the politicians interacting with the sellers and population in general.

Before, the delegations of both cities were in Casa do Roseiral. Besides Rui Moreira, the vice-mayor, Filipe Araújo, the councillors for Urban Planning and Public Space, Pedro Baganha, and for Tourism and Internationalisation, Catarina Santos Cunha, were also present. The Romanian committee was comprised by the ambassador for Romania in Portugal, Ioana Bivolaru, Counsellor for the mayor of Timisoara City Hall, Alexandru Varzaru, the ambassy’s Minister-Counsellor, Artur Raducanu, and by the director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Lisbon, Dinu Gîndu.

Later, the Romanian committee participated, in the Associação Empresarial de Portugal (AEP), in a forum. The closing event was attended by Timisoara’s politician, Dominic Fritz, and Porto City Hall’s councillor for Economy, Ricardo Valente.
