Picture a videogame based on the 16th century navigation systems. Then, head to National Museum Soares dos Reis (MNSR), in Porto, which coincides with the exhibition "Global City- Lisbon in the Renaissance" and get ready to be "jammed".

The "Game Jam" is scheduled for 14 and 15 July, in a partnership with the centre of creative industries of UPTEC - Science and Technology Park of Porto University and Porto Grafic.

A game jam is a gathering of people with the objective of planning, designing, and creating one or more games within a short span of time and this is the first time that such an initiative is organised in a museum, said the Museum Director.

This event falls under the remit of the thematic area "Novelties that Portuguese brought to Europe", the parallel programme to the exhibit, which has received over four thousand visitors since its opening, May 17.

Founded in 1833, the MNSR is the oldest public art museum in the country and is located at Palácio dos Carrancas, since 1940.
