The Municipal Historical Archive of Porto Reading Rooms lock up between 8 and 12 July, owing to rehabilitation works at Casa do Infante. Normal operations return on 13 July.

The necessary renovation works at the roof coverings and the east wall of the Reading Rooms makes it necessary to lock up doors to the public for a five-day period. The Municipal Historical Archive is in charge of the safekeeping and protection of the documentation produced by Porto City Hall, from the Middle Ages until today. In 2020 the Historical Archive of Porto celebrated 40 years.

The documentation in this archive measures roughly 12 thousand metres in length, consisting of several handwritten sets, scrolls, mediaeval manuscripts (illuminated codices), drawings, photographs, as well as postcards collections, engravings and banners, on Portuguese topics, which can be accessed via the portalhttp://gisaweb.cm-porto.pt.
