6.750 protective suits, 11.700 masks, several ICU monitors, thermometers, one ventilator and ventilators consumables were donated by Chinese businesspeople to Porto.

The protective suits and masks were delivered in the Field Hospital, set up at Super Bock Arena - Pavilhão Rosa Mota, and the other supplies were sent to Hospital de São João, by Porto City Hall.

These donations were sent to Porto by several Chinese businesspeople, namely Michael Lee (CNTY), of the "amigos da Senhora Ming", and Qingdao Bofu Medical to help fight the ravages of the novel coronavirus.

The medical supplies, donated to Porto city Hall, were sent via The Portuguese Embassy in Beijing and will also be used to help the SNS - National Health System fight the ravages of the virus.

The Municipality of Porto sprang into action to fight the pandemic, by organising testing programmes in nursing homes, by setting up the first drive-thru facility and by organising the Field Hospital Porto., and even by delivering medical utilities to the SNS, namely ventilators, masks and protective gear that had been donated to the city.

This medical batch adds to the previous ones sent by Chinese companies established in our country, namely CasaCascais, the União dos Emigrantes Chineses, Yulan Zhou, KNJ Investment, from Macau, which has already sent tens of thousands of masks to the Municipality of Porto or even the thousands of masks that Shenzhen, twin sister to Porto, sent to the Invicta.

Jack Ma offered 30 non-invasive ventilators, which Porto delivered at the two public hospitals in town.

Moreover, national companies and businesspeople in Porto are helping Covid-19 relief, namely Gestifute, Porto Editora, Mota Engil or Super Bock, which have supplied tons of thousands of individual protective equipment, sanitiser and oxygen systems.

Other entrepreneurs chose to donate money, which Porto City Hall is using to pay for meals, cleaning, clothes handling and security of the several facilities allocated to the Covid-19 fight.

The chain of solidarity is enormous and the medical equipment donated has been helping not only the SNS response to the pandemic but also essential workers as municipal workers, firefighters, police officers, STCP drivers and institutions that did not have PPE's, especially in the beginning of the crisis.

In addition, purchases by Porto City Hall, since day one, to national companies have been crucial to ensure the continuous supply of this type of material.
