One of the biggest world experts in analytics and brand consulting will invest five million dollars (more than 4.3 million euros) in Porto. Kantar’s goal is to create a regional skills centre that, until the end of 2022, will employ about two hundred people. Among the desired profiles are professionals – but also recently graduates – in finances, human resources and acquisitions. In the future, the English group predicts to extend the Invicta centre to the technology field.

The activities in the facilities in Porto will start off during the first half of the next year. The company announced that “the city’s recent success in attracting and expanding big global companies’ skills centres was a key-factor for the decision made”. Remember that this year the German TeamViewer, the Icelandic payments group Saltpay and the Swiss Zühlke also announced the establishment of large spaces in the city.

The offer of multilingual talent, the technologic infrastructure and the city’s growing innovative ecosystem were other predominant factors. “In the last two years Kantar boarded into a journey of deep transformation. Our investment in Porto is a key step in that direction, assuring suitable support capability to the outstanding service expected by our clients and stakeholders”, states the company’s deputy chief officer.

Ian Griffiths is “excited about the development of these new skills in Porto, that will be able to sustain our growth ambitions.”

On the other hand, Porto city hall councilman for Economy, Tourism and Trade believes that “the decision taken by the group of locating a new skills centre in Porto shows the quality of the talent and ecosystem that the city offers nowadays”.

Ricardo Valente is sure that “the new highly qualified jobs, that will be created by a world leading company such as Kantar, represent a huge opportunity for the city’s development and its inhabitants”.

Kantar is a multinational group from England specialised in consulting services and consumer intelligence for big brands. The group employs 27 thousand workers worldwide, providing services to clients in more than 90 countries. In 2020 Kantar registered a turnover of more than 2,5 thousand million euros, placing it among the top five leaders in market research.

The group’s arrival to the Invicta was promoted by InvestPorto, created by Porto’s City Hall to promote high value investments for the city’s sustainable growth.
