A complete collection of first editions of Harry Potter, signed by the author, and which is part of Livraria Lello’s asset, will be part of Christie´s Valuable Books and Manuscripts Auction, which will take place in London, on July 13.

Part of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Lumos Foundation, created by J.K. Rowlings, the bookstore announced in a statement.

Estimated to be worth between 116 and 174 thousand euros, the collection includes “the very rare, first print, hardcopy first edition of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”, with misspelled words “wand” on page 53 and “Philosopher”, on the back cover”. According to Christie’s, if the collection is sold for an intermediate value of the estimate, Lello’s donation will be 25 thousand pounds (29,1 thousand euros).

“Since 2014, a complete collection has not appeared at auction, including this rare first edition of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone”, highlighted the bookstore, adding that the set will be on display at Christie’s, between 9 and 12 July, during the Christie's Classic Week.

Lumos is an international charity institution that “fights for a future in which each child is raised in a safe, loving and family home, working to end institutionalization”. Founded in 2005, by the author J.K. Rowling, supports families in Colombia, Haiti, Jordan, Panama, Kenya and Moldova, a country where it has reinforced its works in the last months, to deliver food, medicines, hygiene items and educational material for the families victims of the war in Ukraine.
