On the morning of Tuesday, Rui Moreira joined the mayors of Reykjavik (Iceland), Renca (Chile), Bologna (Italy), San Jose (California, United States), Riga (Latvia), Vilnius (Lithuania) and Bristol (England) for a breakfast where the conversation developed around the topic of inclusion. The initiative was part of the Champion Mayors Initiative for Inclusive Growth, of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), regarding Bloomberg CityLab 2022.

The objective of the meeting was to enhance the exchange of ideas and experiences of each city with regard to the adoption of more inclusive policies.

The need to make this inclusion global and effective, in line with the inevitability of carbon neutrality and the demand for affordable housing solutions, was the dominant theme of the meeting that took place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, inserted in Bloomberg CityLab 2022.

The group of mayors also focused on the lines that the initiative should follow in the coming years, taking on the most pressing challenges such as the role of cities in the face of the inflationary situation, the issues of culture and information (and the fight against fake news), and the call for assistance to Ukraine and what forms this assistance can take.

On Sunday, Rui Moreira had already met with Dagur Eggertsson, mayor of Reykjavik and the Board of Directors of Champion Mayors Initiative for Inclusive Growth, and Lamai Kamal-Chaoui, director of the OECD's Entrepreneurship Centre, SMEs, Regions and Cities.

The Champion Mayors Initiative for Inclusive Growth emerged in 2016 "as a response to the growing gap between rich and poor", in order to join synergies between mayors, committed to combating inequalities and promoting more inclusive economic growth in cities.

This is just one of several initiatives that have filled the program of Bloomberg CityLab 2022, the global event that brings together hundreds of mayors, prominent city innovators, business leaders, urban experts, artists and activists to discuss and discover replicable solutions to pressing issues such as pandemic recovery, refugee reception or combating climate change.

The organization is a partnership of Bloomberg Philanthropies with the Aspen Institute.
