Film "Porto" debuts in February and will be released in 25 countries

The film shot in Porto in early 2015 tells the story of Mati, played by French Lucie Lucas and Jake, the character played by American actor Anton Yelchin, who died after the shooting of the film.

Rodrigo Areias, the film producer in Portugal, thanked the support of the City Hall of Porto, not only financial support but also the way the municipality welcomed the project.

The film has been presented at major film festivals around the world and will continue to be shown, drawing attention to Porto as an excellent location to shoot great movies.

The film is to be released in 25 countries, available in theatres in Portugal on 9th February 2017.

The director of the first international distribution feature shot in Porto, Gabe Klinger, says that "the city is a character in the film" stressing he wanted to capture the city's incredible light by shooting the film in 35mm, 16mm and super 8.

Klinger, who thanked Manoel de oliveira in the credits, said that he sought inspiration in the Portuguese filmaker's films like "Douro faina Fluvial"; Klinger  said that the format of the film is used towards structural ends adding that he wanted to "capture the city vibrancy" and that "it can't be done with digital".

Actress Lucie Lucas, conveyed that the city "is the perfect screen" for the intense and addled love story.

They both thanked the people of the city of Porto for the "open arms" welcome.

Anton Yelchin was remembered in a emotional speech by Klinger.
