Felipe VI and Letizia begin state visit to Portugal Monday in Porto

The Kings of Spain will come to Portugal next week. The monarchs will be hosted by Portugal's President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

The visit begins Monday in Porto, with a solemn ceremony in the Town Hall and includes a lunch (Tuesday) with businessmen, offered by the mayor, Rui Moreira.

This visit testifies to the outstandingly strong political, diplomatic and institutional relationship between the two countries and the two peoples. Both countries enjoy a fraternal rapport based in past tradition and walk side by side in terms of promising political relationship.

The State visit will begin in Porto, November 28, in a solemn ceremony in the Town Hall, followed by a visit to the Serralves Foundation and an official dinner hosted by the President of the Republic at the Palace of the Dukes of Bragança in Guimarães. 

The next day, November 29, the Kings of Spain will have a diversified program in the city of Porto, with a visit to the University of Porto, to visit the Science and Technology Park (UPTEC) and the Institute of Research and Innovation in Health (I3S). There will also be a lunch with businessmen at the invitation of the Porto City Hall, at Palácio da Bolsa.

After this lunch, the Kings of Spain will head to Lisbon, to be received in a solemn ceremony in Lisbon City Hall, followed by a dinner offered by the Prime Minister in the Palácio das Necessidades.

On November 30, the Kings of Spain will be honored at the Assembly of the Republic. The program also includes a reception to the Spanish community at the Spanish Embassy in Lisbon and a visit to the Champalimaud Foundation.
