The exhibition catalogue of the “Cultures and Geographies. Centenary of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto” display, organised by the Natural History and Science Museum of the University of Porto was acknowledged “Best of the year”, by the Portuguese Association of Museology. This weekend, take time to see the exhibition at the MHNC-UP, at the Jardim da Cordoaria, from 10am till 1pm.
This is the first catalogue to be launched as regards a temporary exhibition by the MHNC-UP, themed “Culturas e Geografias”. The catalogue and the exhibition are curated by Rui Morais, of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto (FLUP), by Rita of the MHNC-UP, and José Costa Reis, of the Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis, and they are the result of over one year research by a large team of both national and international experts.
The catalogue focus exclusively in pieces at the MHNC-UP, and the texts make over 700 archaeological and ethnographic pieces from the five continents accessible; these refer to the acquis “Museus de Berlim”, which was transferred to the University of Porto for over 90 years.
The exhibit inaugurated at the central pole of the MHNC-UP in December 2019, under the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the FLUP, and it will be on show until 31st January 2021.
The catalogue is on sale at the several poles of the Natural History and Science Museum of the University of Porto (Polo Central and Galeria da Biodiversidade), as well as at the Shop at the University of Porto.
