Entrepreneurship is traditionally characterized by innovation and risk-taking in the process of designing, launching and running a new business, small business.

Recently the term "entrepreneurship" has been expanded to explain how and why some individuals or groups identify opportunities, evaluate them as viable, and then decide to exploit them, creating jobs and wealth, thus mitigating the risk of poverty.

The first locally based Entrepreneurship Program was launched on January 10th by Porto City Hall and the Youth Foundation. This programme has a two-fold aim: to promote entrepreneurship among young people in the region and to promote business ideas.

The "Empreende Jovem" Programme created an online platform (www.empreendejovem.pt), which gathers all available information about the programme, such as entrepreneurship initiatives and support in the city of Porto. There is also a "business ideas contest" available.

Every year, the Youth Foundation promotes support programmes to boost young entrepreneurship such as the NIDE Program, the National Roadmap for Entrepreneurship and the EYP - Empowering Youth Potential.

The target publics of the programme are the young residents and / or students in Porto.

"Move Your Way @ Porto" is one of the initiatives, based on a local entrepreneurship roadmap, such as training sessions in schools and universities.

According to the organizers, "the goal is to encourage young people to advance innovative projects, in the fields of Social Entrepreneurship.
