The largest flag carrier in the Middle East will resume flights to Porto in 2024, interrupted in 2020 due to the pandemic. Connections to and from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) will be operated with new equipment, the A350s, arriving at Emirates next year. All these news were given by the country manager of the air carrier in Portugal.

For Porto, Emirates intends to resume the weekly flights it operated in 2019. "One piece of this successful puzzle in Portugal that is still missing is Porto. It is not forgotten and will start again in the airline's next financial year, which runs from April 2024 to March 2025", said David Quito.

"We expect Porto to be relaunched during the next year because it is a destination in Portugal that will complete this missing piece", he added.

In addition to the resumption of this route, the head of Emirates in Portugal revealed another novelty: the connections between Porto and Dubai will be operated with new equipment (A350), which will arrive at the air carrier next year. "Emirates has not had new equipment in recent years, its fleet is very stable, consisting essentially of A380s and Boeing 777s. Thus, the A350 will be a completely new equipment in the company, with configuration in three classes, business, premium economy, and economy", he said.

Portugal is the destination of choice

About the airline, David Quito assured that, from the point of view of sales in Portugal, "we are reaching new records every month. We have already reached the number of passengers we had in 2019 and we have already forgotten, internally, to celebrate, every month, the passenger and revenue records."

"We continue to have Portugal as the destination of choice for many Asian markets, namely India and China. South Korea, Taiwan, and Australia continue to work very well, and Emirates is one of the most used airlines on routes in Asia, where we continue to be very successful", added the head of the company in Portugal.

Before the pandemic, Emirates had four weekly direct connections between Porto and Dubai, which benefited not only the city but the North region and all of Galicia.
