Porto City Hall activated the Emergency and the Municipal Civil Protection Plan at zero hours today, 23rd March, complementing the national measures taken under the Presidential Decree on the Emergency State.

This decision was taken after conferring with the firefighter Command, the municipal police and the Public Security Police - PSP-, at metropolitan level.

With this, new command lines are defined at the civil protection and safety level, as well as the simplification of administrative procedures that apply in the event of a response to an emergency situation that may occur in the Municipality of Porto.

Porto City Hall acted immediately by preventing the front desk public service and cancelling all events, namely shows, exhibitions, public gatherings and putting all possible workers under telework.

The Municipality of Porto has been in the forefront to providing support to public hospitals of the city of Porto and was involved in the assembly of the first testing centre of Covid-19 in the country, located at the City Park.
