For over a decade, as summer settles in, so does jazz arrive from the concert halls to be heard in between the trees of the gardens of Palácio de Cristal. This will also be the case this year, between the 13th and 16th of July, in the 11th edition of Porta-Jazz ao Relento. The entrance is free.

In partnership with Porto City Hall, 28 different musicians will perform on the stage at the Gardens of Palácio de Cristal, for four nights, with the performances starting at 10 pm every night.

This Thursday, the programme will open with a group led by the pianist Carlos Azevedo, recognised by Porta-Jazz as “one of the greatest names in national music”, and whose curriculum as a composer for different bands, for theatre and for cinema, “gives him an historic status”. He was a teacher, founded schools, and performed next to artists like Jan A. P. Kaczmarek, Steve Potts, Carlos Alberto Augusto, Paleka or Maria João.

Tomorrow, on the 14th, another group will perform, led by bassist Gianni Narduzzi, who is Italian but currently lives in Switzerland after having done his academic journey in Porto, where he forged close artistic bonds with young emergent musicians.

As for Saturday, the 15th of July, the customary show by Coreto will be held. Coreto is an ensemble of 12 distinguished musicians of Portuguese jazz, deeply rooted in the movement created in the organisation. The group will perform “A Tribo”, the last of 5 records, “internationally recognised”.

Finally, on the night of the 16th (on Sunday), the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal will stage the Umbral’s concert, a multidisciplinary project that joins together literary texts and sounds improvised by five musicians.
