A video art installation by the North American artist Nikolas Skilbeck, titled "Dreaming of Porto", is inaugurated this Friday, February 17, at 5.30 pm, at the Palacete Viscondes de Balsemão.

The project was carried out under the Artistic Residencies program organized by Porto City Hall and the city of Tours, with the support of the association Mode d'Emploi and SKAD.

Nikolas Chasser Skilbeck is a Plasticist / Videographer born in New York in 1985. His work offers the audience a pictorial, poetic and strange world. Through various devices (HD LED screens, projections, Mapping on buildings, installation, holograms, etc.) and with a strong inspiration from the history of art and cinema.

The cartography here is the world of sensations that combines peace and anxiety in different time experiences.

During the two-month residence in Porto between May and June 2016, the artist filmed and edited more than 11 different videos that evolved into a contemplative temporality.

Combining digital techniques and his imagination, Nicolas invites us to discover his dreams of Porto, with the contributions of Arthur Zerktouni (audio) and Farid Rahmouni (choreography).

Nikolas Chasser Skilbeck work has been showcased in different museums and institutions such as the MAC / VAL, Enghien Arts Center, Tours Art Museum, and the Takamatsu Art Museum (Japan).

The video art installation will be open to the public at Palacete Viscondes de Balsemão, until March 25th. Visiting hours from 10 am to 5:30 pm, from Monday to Saturday.
