The CriArte Porto project has this vison of inspiring social inclusion by means of classical music concerts, which will take place at the Escola Básica e Secundária do Cerco and features three educational concerts, namely two operas, and two choirs – a youth and an adult choir. This concert cycle kicked off in May, with the performance by Nuno Campos Quarteto. During June, three other performances are in the agenda, with the outlining goal of hardwiring the community and erudite musicians and composers, in an informal gathering.

On 5 June, the Escola do Cerco hosts the Ensemble de Sopros of the Silva Monteiro Music Course, on 12 June, the piece Carnaval dos Animais, by the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, and on 19 June, the programmes concludes with the Opus Duo on stage.

All concerts start at 5 pm and are entrance free. Due to seat capacity constraints, those interested should previously make a ticket reservation via the phone number22 600 21 50.

The initiative MusiCom, jointly organised with the Silva Monteiro Music Course, aims at making classical music the privileged instrument to boost and promote social inclusion, by improving academic success and enhancing motivation to actively study, by developing such strategies as discipline and focus, as well as team work competences.

The CriArte Porto is coordinated by the Municipality of Porto, financed by the European Social Fund/Norte2020, and seeks to promote the enhancement of school success in the framework of the pre-school and the first, second, third and fourth graders, thus decreasing early school dropouts.

This project was first established in 2020, and it has been implemented in the parishes of Bonfim and Campanhã and includes four School Groups, namely, Alexandre Herculano, António Nobre, Aurélia de Sousa and Cerco do Porto.
