The Puppets of Porto introduce a new workshop to put creative making to work. In the framework of the Sculpture at the Museum month, João Pedro Trindade, visual artist and technician at the Puppet Theatre of Porto and Micaela Soares, the company’s in-house actress, deliver a workshop to share their own aesthetics when it comes to building a puppet or marionette. The Workshop is for participants aged between 8 and 15 years old.

This workshop is inspired by the Fragile universe, a show by the company, in 2010. Participants will be able to experiment the building techniques of a puppet and how too, step by step, limb by limb, coordinate your own puppet.

For two hours, follow the advice and tips by João Pedro Trindade and Micaela Soares and discover how they build marionettes for their shows. All the necessary material is provided, including protective gear, by the “Marionetas do Porto”.

Applications for the workshop run until 12 July. Fill in this form, and wait to be contacted by email. All the necessary materials will be provided by the Company. Participants get to take their puppet home.

Theworkshop is scheduled for 17 and 18 July, from 3 pm to 5 pm, at the Teatro de Belomonte – Rua de Belomonte, Porto. The workshop is for participants aged between 8 and 15 years old.

Participation costs are 25 euros and it includes application costs, access to the workshop, protective gear, building badge and materials.
