Next Saturday, March 25th, Jakub Józef Orliński will perform with the il Pomo d’Oro orchestra in a concert honouring Jorge Gil, founder of “Em Órbita” for his 80th birthday. The Polish countertenor is one of the most relevant artists in the international classical music and will perform in Portugal for the first time on March 25th at 7pm, at the Grande Auditório in Rivoli.

He will be joined by the il Pomo d’Oro orchestra, comprised of 17 musicians, to perform Facce d’Amore, a programme that encompasses many baroque arias dedicated to the countless aspects of love. At the concert, Francesco Corti will perform as a harpsichordist and maestro.

This is a tribute concert to Jorge Gil, founder of “Em Órbita” (1965-2001), a reference in the Portuguese radiophonic panorama and promotor classical musical concerts, who would turn 80 years old in 2023.

This same year marks the 20 years anniversary since the last concert organised by Jorge Gil, interestingly enough in Teatro Rivoli.

With sold-out concerts and recitals all over Europe and the United States of America, Jakub Józef Orliński, graduated from Juilliard School, in 2017, starting his international career as Orimeno, in “Erismena”, by Francesco Cavalli, in its Aix-en-Provence Festival premiere.

Awarded and distinguished all over the world, Jakub represents the new generation of lyrical music, and he also breakdances. He takes part in dance competitions, having placed fourth in the Red Bull BC One Poland Cypher competition, second in the Stylish Strike – Top Rock competition and second in The Style Control competition.

He has also starred in campaigns for Levi’s, Nike, Turbokolor, Samsung, Mercedes-Benz, and MAC Cosmetics.

Tickets are available in Teatro Municipal do Porto and in their online box office.
