Catalan delegation came to discover “made in Porto” innovation

A delegation of 40 representatives from the public, private and academic sectors of Catalonia, working on the themes of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology, came to learn about Porto’s innovation ecosystem, having been received, at the Porto Innovation Hub (PIH), by the vice-mayor and councillor for Innovation and Digital Transition, Filipe Araújo.

The visit to Portugal, which also took place in Aveiro and Lisbon, aimed to promote the meeting and exchange of experiences with entities and people associated with the national innovation ecosystem, in order to better understand the local practices and trends, as well as explore synergy opportunities with the Catalan counterpart ecosystem.

“It seems essential to explore, debate and defend the emerging topics of innovation and this session can, effectively, generate future collaborations in pursuit of a common goal for both regions: the continuous improvement of life’s quality, through sustainable economic growth and sustained in empowered communities, through knowledge and technology”, highlighted Filipe Araújo.

In the session at the Porto Innovation Hub, Porto Digital was presented as a toolbox for the Municipality’s Innovation and Digital Transition, with reference to those that are its main axes of action – Technology, Innovation and Experimentation, and Partnerships – which are worked on to the creation of more effective local public services and with an impact on increasing life’s quality of the citizens and on the sustainable development of the city.

Also in the Porto area, the delegation had the opportunity to meet and visit other relevant teams, projects, and institutions, namely UPTEC, CEiiA and ANJE.
