The Joan Miró collection will stay at Casa de Serralves in Porto. The announcement was made by the Mayor of Porto after the opening of the exhibition "Joan Miró: Materiality and Metamorphosis."
Rui Moreira, accompanied by the president of the Serralves Foundation, Ana Pinho, and by the architect Siza Vieira told reporters that the collection now "under the tutelage of Porto City Hall, could not be in a better place than here, at Casa de serralves. That is my decision. Miró. [full stop]"
The Foundation will thus be the "new cultural center of the city" that will be subject to some improvement works of infrastructure, a task that will be the responsibility of the architect Alvaro Siza Vieira, responsible for the project of the Foundation.
The institutional and financial model is still being developed to ensure the maximization of the project and will be announced within days.
