According to the UN, annual road deaths will rise to 1.9 million by 2020. Unless immediate action is taken, these shocking numbers will escalate.

In the framework of the "Decade of Action for Road Safety Programme" that the Government of Portugal has endorsed, each year, a city is invited to implement projects aimed at producing better drivers.

This year, Porto is the Youth Capital of Road Safety and it will host the Brisa Student Drive Camp between 9 and 13 April, a programme developed by Brisa in partnership with Fórum Estudante and Porto City Hall.

This programme outlines a wide range of different activities regarding safe driving behaviours, and is targeted at youngsters aged between 15 and 18 years, and involves the establishment of "Road Safety Laboratories" in schools.

Schools are equipped with a laptop computer, projector, projection screen and panels illustrating road safety subjects.

After attending the Brisa Students Drive Camp programme, students are certified as "Ambassadors of Road Safety", and then dedicate themselves to raising consciousness of the road safe rules within their communities.
