Two airlines announced new flight plans to Porto. Austrian Airlines will open a new route to Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in the summer of 2023. Emirates intends to resume flights between Porto and Dubai in the second half of 2024.

The Austrian airline of the Lufthansa Group presented the new destinations scheduled for next summer, including Porto, with three weekly flights from Vienna.

Flights to Invicta (Porto City) begin with the switch to daylight saving time and are one of the main novelties on the airline's network for the summer season of 2023. Porto is one of the seven new destinations that Austrian Airlines will include in its travel proposals, in addition to Marseille (France), Billund (Dinamarca), Tivat (Montenegro), Palermo (Italy), Vilnius (Lithuania) and Tromso (Norway).

“The destinations Porto, Marseille, Billund and Tivat are completely new”, Austrian Airlines said in a statement published on the website, revealing that the four new destinations will have up to three flights a week from Vienna, the capital of Austria. Next summer, the airline will have 43 destinations in the Mediterranean, providing about 300 flights per week. All routes and flights for the summer of 2023 are now available for booking through the Austrian Airlines website.

Emirates Expects to Resume Flights Porto – Dubai in 2024

Meanwhile, the director of Emirates in Portugal, David Quito, announced in Lisbon that the airline hopes to resume flights between Porto and Dubai in the second half of 2024. “Porto is not forgotten,” he said.

For Porto, the airline intends to resume the four flights per week that it operated in 2019, before the pandemic, but is dependent on several factors, including “other foreign markets, such as the reopening of China,” the Emirates executive said.

Emirates' goal, “in the medium term, is to have an operation as it had in 2019, with about 50 thousand seats per month to Portugal”, round trip, with 18 flights per week (14 weekly from Lisbon and 4 weekly from Porto).
