The architecture studio SUMMARY is among the 20 best offices in the world, according to the ArchDaily platform. It is another distinction to the company graduated from UPTEC – Parque de Ciência e Tecnologia da Universidade do Porto that had already seen its founder on the “Europe 40 under 40” list, which elects the 40 more promising emerging architects and designers in Europe.

In the list “Best Practices of 2021”, created by 16 experts, the international website highlights the company from Porto for its “balance between pragmatism and experimentalism” of its work.

According to UPTEC, the Archdaily points out “the need for change, combined with the fast digitisation of the industry, placed architecture on the brink of a major revolution”, and that the winners “are the catalysts of that change”.

SUMMARY, shares the Porto University centre, “it operates in the fields of architecture and urbanism, with a special focus on the development of architectural solutions using prefabrication technology” and its challenge “is to make construction an increasingly simpler act, that responds to the demands imposed by the contemporary architecture.”

In 2016, and with only one year of activity, Porto City Hall supported SUMMARY participation as the youngest architecture studio invited to present itself at the Venice Biennale, with the project “Gomos Building System”, to construct concrete building in record time.

The following year, SUMMARY won the international Red Dot Award: Design Concepts, in the “Habitat” category, with the same building system, and in 2020 it was the “Emerging Architect of the Year” at the Dezeen Awards.
