Ambassador of Egypt welcomed in the Council Chambers

Last Wednesday, the Mayor of Porto welcomed the Ambassador of Egypt, Wael Abu Bakr Al Naggar, in a greeting presentation session.

Several issues of national and international current affairs were discussed, and the municipal book of honour was signed. Rui Moreira and Wael Abu Bakr Al Naggar also exchanged gifts.

The reception took place in Sala D. Maria, in the Council Chambers, and was also attended by the Tourism and Internationalisation Councillor, Catarina Santos Cunha.

Wael Abu Bakr Al Naggar was appointed Egypt's plenipotentiary ambassador in Portugal by the President of his country, Abdel Fattah El Sisi, effective from December 1st, 2021. The diplomat handed over credentials on January 17th of this year, along with the new ambassadors in Portugal, in a ceremony chaired by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, which took place at Palácio Nacional da Ajuda.
