The Porto Metro network is 14 years old and stands as a turning point in the history of the city of Porto regarding mobility. It is one of the largest light rail networks in Europe and has very positive social, economic and environmental impacts on society and the region.

With 67 km in service, the network has six lines, with a fleet of 102 vehicles capable of transporting about nine thousand people in each line every hour. There are 81 stations, 14 of which are underground stations.

It is estimated that the light rail network prevents 12,000 vehicles from circulating daily in the city and that 55,000 tons of CO2 are no longer emitted annually into the atmosphere. This has proven effective in gradually solving congestion and environmental problems in the city.

60% of the users are less than 35 years old and about 30% are students.

Porto is on pace to see the metro network's expansion and approximately 240 million euros will be invested in the expansion of new metro lines the coming year.
