Alberto Carneiro was a Portuguese artist born in Coronado, Minho in 1937. He died on 15 April 2017, at the age of 79.

In 1967, he concludes his degree in the School of Fine Arts of Porto. The following year he moves to London, where he studied at Saint Martin's School of Art (1968-1970), and was taught by Anthony Caro and Philip King.

In London, he worked in the context of minimal and British Conceptual Art and develops innovative projects, including "The cane field: metamorphosis memory of an absent body" (1968) and "A forest to your dreams" (1970), which approaches Land Art, granting special attention to the values of an art of "immersion", moving from a manual labour perspective to consider conceptual design, and the progressive dematerialization of the artwork.

The installation "A Field after the Harvest for Our Body's Aesthetic Delight", from 1973-1976, by Alberto Carneiro is recreated in the exhibition space of Culturgest through the rigorous and careful organisation of elements from the cycle of nature, made of natural rye and straw.

The exhibition will be on show at Culturgest (Avenida dos Aliados) until 1 October, from Wednesday to Sunday, from 12.30 am to 7.30 pm.

Entrance is free.
