150 wine producers highlight the Essence of Wine in the gardens of the Palácio de Cristal

The Wine Essence even is running in the Gardens of the Palácio de Cristal, in Porto. It inaugurated yesterday and will be offering participants wines from 150 national and international producers, as well as a wide-range of activities, including guided tastings by oenologists, by producers and the wine tasters by the Revista de Vinhos magazine. These tastings have limited capacity, but can be performed online. There are strict health measures in place, issued by the DGS.

During a guided tour offered by the President of the Porto Trade Association, Nuno Botelho, the Mayor of Porto toasted to a special edition of the “Essência do Vinho”, enhancing the relevance of such event both for the producers and the city. “We need to take heart, trust and hope”, affirmed Rui Moreira in an interview to the Porto Canal, recalling the unanimous support of the Municipality to this “Essência do Vinho” edition, which is set up at the Avenida das Tílias.

This outdoor summer edition of the “Essência dos Vinhos” features chef Chakall at the Concha Acústica, where he will deliver live cooking sessions. There is a food court that runs at all times, with the following restaurants: Sagardi; Praia da Luz & Luis Américo; Dona Maria/The Lodge Wine And Business Hotel; Espumantes da Bairrada & Ostras.

To comply with all the health guidelines issued by the DGs, access to the event requires a mandatory testing to Covid-19, (4 euros/test), available at the site or alternatively, by presenting one of the following documents: Covid Digital Certificate; proof of negative PCR test performed in the last 72 hours; or proof of rapid antigen test performed in the last 48 hours.

Entrance is free with the mandatory purchase of a 5-euro tasting glass, which also includes two wine tasting sessions.

In 2022, the “Essência do Vinho” is estimated to go back to its regular edition, at the Palácio da Bolsa, and repeat the summer format.
