Porto Book Fair is back in town from 27 August to 12 September, in the Gardens of the Palácio de Cristal. The 2021 edition received 82 applications, of which 78 have been approved, namely publishers, distributors, bookstores, used bookshops, and institutional entities that will occupy 124 pavilions, and another pavilion that will be utilized by Porto City Hall.

The event is, once again, coordinated by Nuno Faria, artistic director of the Museu da Cidade. For seventeen days, the city’s leading literary event, will honour the writer from Porto, Júlio Dinis.

The old Fair format (prior to 2014) has been re-imagined and, in the years since then, Porto Book Fair has consolidated and is now an event that allows for the discoverability of books. A novelty, this year, is the warm-up cycle: each of the six weekends before the Book Fair starts, the warm-up cycle will introduce different sounds, from jazz to blues, also with melodies from the music of the world, spoken word and dance music, with lots of scheduled concerts that will take to the stage emerging musicians.

It is worth highlighting that all safety measures issued by the DGS, in the scope of the pandemic fight, will be in place.
