On display in the Municipal Gallery the exhibition "100 Treasures of Public Porto Library," a show that was born of an idea of former Culture Councilman of Porto City Hall, Paulo Cunha e Silva, and suggests a trip to the collections of the Municipal Public Library (BPMP).

Curated by Fernando Pinto do Amaral, the exhibition is organized in twelve thematic and chronological nuclei - displayed into structures designed by the architectural studio Vírgula i - that features dozens of printed works, namely incunabula and medieval codices, maps, lithographs and several manuscripts.

This exhibition is also the first show of the Municipal Gallery which has an audio guide system in Portuguese and English, which provides the visitor a contextualization of the 12 nuclei, as well as a detailed description of each document submitted.

The system derives from bilingual recording of texts by the curator, conducted by volunteer readers of the audio recording BPMP library service. The recordings in digital mp3 format are then made available in the online catalog of municipal libraries, to which the exhibition visitors can access via their smartphones by simply scanning QR codes that are printed in the various exhibition centers.

Therefore, visitors can autonomously and at their pace, improve knowledge of The works on display, through an exhibition, that travels by a "past whose legacy and testimony remain with us, thanks to objects that dazzle us, that move us but, above all, that make us think about what we are today, "as described by the curator Fernando Pinto do Amaral.

The show runs until November 13 and the entry is free.
