Porto is reshaping the iconic Batalha Cinema Centre

The Cinema Batalha is a pivotal building in the city of Porto. It speaks to the city’s first film screenings in the Salão High-Life, in 1906, owned by the company Neves & Pascaud, in what is today Boavista. The cinema was moved to its current site, the civil parish of Cedofeita, Santo Ildefonso, Sé, Miragaia, São Nicolau and Vitória, during the 1940’s, when architect Artur Andrade designed Batalha’s rehabilitation project. The building was re-inaugurated on 3rd June 1947.

Porto. card is already available and brings exclusive city discounts and benefits

As of today, 5th April, the Porto. card is available. All residents in Porto can adhere to the online card, through the uploading of all the necessary documents. Free membership can accordingly be made in-person, at the Townsman Office (Gabinete do Munícipe), at Porto municipal libraries, at Porto Municipal Theatre - Rivoli and at the municipal pools.

ISEP fights plastic pollution and is granted LIPOR’s “Coração Verde” certification

It’s been a year now that the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP) decided to put a stop to the process of selling 33 cl water plastic bottles within its premises. This was but step one to Porto Engineering Institute to initiate its path toward sustainability. This effort was acknowledged by Porto City Hall, municipal company Porto Ambiente and LIPOR, with the granting of the award “Coração Verde” [“Green Heart”, free translation].

STCP with 100% running of services starting on 5th April

Following Easter Sunday, STCP, the Porto Bus company, resumes 100% running of services on working days, effective as of 5th April. This measure follows the easing of the lockdown measures, regarding working days. STCP services will maintain timetable restrictions on weekends, with the Bus Company offering the “Contingency Timetable”.

Porto, the city of the camellias, inspires amazing artwork

The camellia is the flower of Porto; it was brought from England in the beginning of the nineteenth century and now it wins its place in the city’s street artwork, namely in a mural in Rua Antero de Quental and in an art installation that invites passervbys to share the collective memory of the quintessential flower of the Invicta. Porto City Hall invited urban artist Third and the architect duo FAHR021.3 to pay a tribute to the camellia. This is what they did.
