The City Hall Environment Team is more than happy to provide useful tips, step by step guiding you to planting vegetable gardens either in an apartment or in a detached house.

Shuttle programme accommodates applications till October 2021

Shuttle new edition has been approved by the Municipal Executive early December 2020 and it will be effective until October 2021. The goal is to award artistic creation projects in the Invicta, throughout the year, so as to promote the solidification of artists, cultural agents and spaces’ activities in Porto. The programme includes an increase in the available budget, in a total of 75 thousand euros. To provide financial support to logistic expenses and production costs.

The Quinta de Leitura literary cycle is back with poetry, illustration, new circus acts and music

Bring a little joy to your winter evenings with the cycle “Quintas de Leitura”, at the digital stage of Porto Municipal Theatre (TMP), with the celebration of the work by poets Filipa Leal and João Habitualmente. This session is available starting at 10 pm, on 11th February, at TMP online.

Porto deployed a vaccination plan and all is in place but the supply of vaccines

The Queimódromo is set as the first vaccination centre in Porto, with the capacity to administrate circa two thousand vaccines per day. The former bus parking facility of the STCP, located in São Roque, is also another option, and the Gardens of Palácio de Cristal is under consideration for a walk-thru. “As long as vaccines are in place, the city of Porto is ready to boost vaccination”, stated Mayor Rui Moreira, yesterday morning, during a press conference at the site of the Queimódromo.

Porto Innovation Hub promotes the initiative “Inovação Fora de Portas – Engenharia Civil à Mostra” [aka, “Innovation across the city – Civil Engineering Display”, free translation), which are held in a digital format, on a monthly basis. Municipal vegetable gardens are very much encouraged by the Municipality of Porto, and the new “Horta Municipal” in Paranhos is being prepared to accommodate 32 plots of land to grow your own fresh vegetables. The opening is set for next March and applications are ongoing. The main concept behind this approach is to boost and inspire vegetable gardens in public spaces by relying more on biological processes and organic crop production within the soil system to recycle and release nutrients.

Porto Municipal Libraries resume book lending amid the pandemic

Libraries refuse to be defined by lockdown measures and will resume book lending. Porto Municipal Libraries will adopt the take-away regime as regards books, CDs or DVDs, starting today, 9th February.

Municipal Executive approves 52 million euros for pandemic fight

The Municipal Executive approved the first 2021 budget review yesterday morning, in the exact amount of 51.7 million euros, during a private meeting held by videoconference. Rui Moreira admits to the possibility that the Municipality further reinforces the pandemic fight effort in the nearest future. But, as these are uncertain times, Mayor Rui Moreira deems wise not to “be out of ammunition just yet”, even so because this crisis can get worse.
