Uplifting Campus Paulo Cunha e Silva is inaugurated on the day the former councillor for Culture would celebrate its 59th anniversary

The Campus extends for exactly 900m2. The former Escola Básica José Gomes Ferreira, the classrooms and even outdoor spaces transformed into creative studios and spaces that will be utilized by the city’s artistic community. The Campus Paulo Cunha e Silva is the new residency centre for performing arts and the doors are open.

One way of celebrating São João can very much be the voting on your preferred São João Shop Window under the S. João 2021 Shop Window Competition. Applications for Best São João Window, in the following categories “Best Window Friend of the Environment” and “Best Shop window elected by the Public” concluded on 2 June. Now it is time to have your say as regards the Best São João Windows in town, as there will be a voting by the jury and a voting by the general public, which run from 9 to 21 June.

U.Porto new students welcome kit is available for pick up following pandemic interruption

The offer of the welcome kits to the 2020/2021 UP new students will be resumed from 7 to 25 June, at the Loja da Universidade, upon presentation of the respective voucher. The distribution had been interrupted last October, owing to the pandemic.

The Museum of the Holocaust in Porto offers free visits until the end of June

The Museum of the Holocaust, which inaugurated in Porto last May, with circa 300 daily visitors, offers entrance free until the end of June. This is the first Holocaust Museum in the Iberian Peninsula and its target goal is to keep the memory of the victims of one of the darkest periods in Humankind’s latest history alive.

The CAD HIV/AIDS mobile unit service scheduling is already available for his month of June. Sessions are free, organised on a first-come, first served basis and all data is confidential.

The “Cascatas de São João” invite to creative thinking and making in Porto

Porto residents and visitors are invited to take part in the city’s super special festival in town, by creating the most famous “Cascatas de São João”, aka, cascades of little traditional houses that portray the typical ways of life of the people in Porto. The goal is to build up to 250 little houses that will, then, form the greatest picture of what a “Cascata” (Cascade) is. The collective São João Cascata will be on display at the Bolhão Temporary Market, from 21 to 28 June.

This is everyone’s NOS Primavera Sound 2022 line-up wish list

Today, 2 June, the festival’s line-up is announced and fans get to know that such bands as Tame Impala, Gorillaz, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Beck and Pavement go on stage between 9 and 11 June. All tickets purchased for the 2020 and the 2021 NOS Primavera Sound edition are valid for the 2022 edition.

Best Of Wine Tourism 2022 applications are open

The applications for the Best Of Wine Tourism are open. Companies that develop enotourism activities in Porto and Douro and the "Vinhos Verdes" Wine Regions are now able to apply to such an award, even more relevant in a time when the tourism sector has been so hard hit by the pandemic. Applications should be submitted until 16 July 2021.

The “Cascatas de São João” are a spring special in Porto! Workshops kick off on 30 May

All residents in Porto are invited to spruce up the city in the month of the city’s Patron Saint: São João. The community workshops make these real entertaining moments and one can easily find herself/himself evoking memories of joyous past São João Feasts that (no doubt) will be fully celebrated next year. The community workshops to building a “Cascata” kick off on 30 May.

Celebrating Children’s Day with the online activities by Ágora

It is time to cheer children all over, as the International Children’s Day is just around the corner; this day is celebrated on 1 June and the municipal company Ágora marks the date online, on 29 and 30 May, with a whole series of playful and educational activities, such as reading, poetry, cinema, workshops and sports. The meeting-point will be Agora’s social media – Facebook and Instagram - due to the ongoing health measures, namely reduced seat availability.
