The city of Porto hosts the second Meeting of women in IT jobs, on 27 June, at the DevScope Auditorium, Partner Company of the event organisation. IAMCP - International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners (the largest Microsoft community and network partners), jointly with WIT (Women in Technology) will address the need for inclusiveness of the available potential labour pool in particular the severe under-representation of women in the ICT workforce management positions.

The streets of Porto were filled with joy and excitement to celebrate the Patron Saint, and every plaza and every street corner served dances, broiled sardines, "caldo verde" (Typical Portuguese soup) topped with cascades and happy people.

São João in Porto is the reason why the eve of 24th June is the longest night in town and the celebration doesn't end at break of dawn; in fact, it continues all day long and at 5 pm, as is tradition, the Concert of São João features the Portuguese Symphonic Band.

International Day of Yoga is celebrated on 21st June, but in the city of Porto this international day of Mind and Body unification is commemorated on Sunday, 24th June, the Day of the Patron Saint of Porto, São João.

At the stroke of midnight, on Saint John's celebrations, 24th July, a spectacular firework will mark one of the highlights of this ancient festivity, which dates back to the city's foundation.

The BMW group, reputed German trend setter and world class automobile engineering has chosen Porto to reach its next milestone: building the car of the future. This undertaking will rely on the partnership of the Portuguese Company Critical Software, who will jointly develop and produce in the city of Porto a pioneer software that will be used in the BMW automobile fleet.

Save this date in your agenda: the 22nd June, the city celebrates the patron saint - São João- with the traditional dancing and singing parade, the "rusgas", in which each city parish dresses in a traditional costume and performs folklore dancing.

The official tour of the Mayor of Porto through China is now in Shanghai. After visiting Beijing, Rui Moreira held meetings with the Mayor and Vice-Mayor of the largest city of the People's Republic of China, considered one of the biggest metropolitan areas in the world, with over 24 million inhabitants.

As is tradition during the celebrations of the São João, there will be folklore dancing in Porto, scheduled to start at 3 pm. The folklore groups will departure from several sites in the city, and nine folkdance groups will enliven the city with cheerful music and good vibes. The groups will parade through the city main streets and avenues in downtown Porto, and everyone's invited to celebrate the patron saint of the city, São João.
