Summer also means festivities and pilgrimage and Porto is no exception. The feast of Saint Bartholomew enlivens Foz do Douro from June till September. The traditional parade of paper costumes, scheduled this year for 26th August is one of the highlights of Saint Bartholomew festivity and the Market in Molhe is a must-go.

Porto was chosen over Paris and Barcelona to host the most important Textile Congress in 2019, confirming the status of "case study" of the Portuguese Industry, to which the international arena is paying close attention. The organisers of the event stated the dates: 20 to 22 October.

Thousands of folks have waddled around the Cordoaria Garden, this past weekend. This was the first "Verão no Jardim" [Summer in the Garden] initiative. This is a municipal enterprise aimed at enliven and add to the summer in the city of Porto.

Porto Busker Fest is held every weekend this August in the Invicta to offer street shows all over improvised stages Downtown Porto. National and foreign artists will entertain the public for donations, offering music, theatre, dance, and juggling performances.

Throughout August, till the 31st, there are live pipe organ concerts at Clérigos Church, always at noon. A wide repertoire of songs is presented, and concerts are access free.

Italy, Mexico, Spain, Russia, Georgia, France, Slovakia and Portugal are the countries taking part in the International Folklore Festival, which began last weekend and runs till 29 July, in the city of Porto. More than 250 participants will showcase the heritage and culture of eight countries, with performances throughout town, namely Trindade Metro Station, Quinta de São Romão, the Social Centre of Sé, the Garden of Arca d'Água or the Gomes Teixeira Square.

A New Tourism Office opened in Santa Catarina Street, next to FNAC store. This service is a partnership of Porto City Hall and Porto Tourism Association. Timetable is from Monday to Saturday, from 11 am to 8 pm, and it will work on Sundays till 15th September.

The Municipal Programme "Verão é no Porto" [summer is in Porto] takes Jazz back to Palácio de Cristal, this August. Every Saturday in August, the Gardens of Palácio de Cristal feature the Jazz concert cycle "Jazz ao Relento" [Jazz in the open], as is tradition every summer in Porto. These events are access free.

Three projects made in Porto obtained podium positions in the framework of the 10th edition of the National Prize on Creative Industries Super Bock/Serralves. Horizon47, Guava Shoes and Quarteto Contratempus stood out among the ten finalists and were awarded, respectively, first, second and third prizes.

This is the 9th edition of the "Passeio Duas Rodas Clássicas" [Parade of Classic Two wheel vehicles] in Porto, on 22 July, scheduled to begin at 9 am at Avenida dos Aliados.
