The Professor of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP), the designer Eduardo Aires, was awarded two silver Pentawards in 2018. Aires was recognised by his work on male care packaging for the brand Musgo Real and also by his work "Luxury - Fine Wines and Champagne", developed on Port Wine packaging celebrating Taylor's Fladgate Partnership 325th anniversary.

The Rheinforce technology, developed by researchers of the Faculty of Engineering of Porto University (FEUP), Francisco Galindo Rosales and Laura Campo Deaño, was recently awarded the AuxDefense 2018 Innovation Prize, the most important International conference on defence advanced materials.

The Scott Kelby Annual Worldwide Photo walk is held on the first Saturday of October, and this year, the city of Porto will join the photographic journey, with the Porto Can't Miss It event, led by travel photographer José Manuel Santos.

The Portuguese Women in Tech Awards (PWIT) is a project aimed at awarding leading female experts in the tech panel, within the national entrepreneurial ecosystem. This was one of the eight selected initiatives, in a total of 57 applications, in the context of the ScaleUp Porto Open Call, sponsored by Porto City Hall.

Urban Market bids farewell to summer with a picnic on 14, 15 and 16 September at Praça das Cardosas and on 20 and 21 September at Garden Infante Dom Henrique. Portugal Lovers invites for some of summer's best days, as blossoming season is coming to a close. This event is entrance free, and operating hours are from 11 am to 7 pm. This initiative is supported by Porto City Hall and Porto Lazer.

Porto plays host to the Smart Capital event, promoted by the International Venture Club (IVC) jointly with Porto City Hall. The aim of this initiative is to gather business innovators, managers of investment funds and independent investors for doing business.
