World Mayors convene in Porto to debate sustainable tourism in 2021

World Mayors convene in Porto to analyse the challenges of sustainable urban tourism, in the scope of a summit, organised by

UNWTO in in the first half of 2021. The World Tourism Organization is the United Nations specialized agency responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism. 

This event was announced in Madrid, headquarters to the UNWTO, on occasion of FITUR, the International Tourism Fair - FITUR, which is the global meeting point for tourism professionals and the leading trade fair for inbound and outbound markets in Latin America and was held in Madrid from 22 to 26 January.

"In 2019, around fifty representatives of city halls at world level debated the challenges regarding tourism growth and which solutions should be designed to promoting tourism that both fosters wealth and benefit residents in each destination. Moreover, the first WTO letter for sustainable tourism was signed", according to the release of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transition.
