The power of celebration with Chef Chakall in Porto

Festival season is here! Gather up your mates and your onesies to venture out to Porto Blues Fest at the Gardens of Palácio de Cristal on 17 and 18 May.

The third edition of Porto Blues Fest is all about New Orleans, world-renowned for its distinct music, Creole cuisine, unique dialect, and its annual celebrations and festivals.

A fusion of 'New Orleans jazz' with Creole cuisine come together in Porto and Chakall, who always presents himself with his distinctive brightly coloured turban and thick Argentine accent, will be at Porto Blues Fest to mix a dashing appearance and his passion for cooking.

Chakall grew up in Buenos Aires, in a family whose gene pool consisted of Galician, Swiss-German, French Basque, Italian and Argentinean heritage.

The line-up is stunning: Henrik Freischlader kicks off the first day of the festival, taking to the stage his blues rock at 10pm. The evening concludes with Juwana Jenkins, author, composer and singer, who mixes the soul of the sixties with Motown and Sax sounds, as well as modern blues.

On 18 May, the rock blues are on with "the King of feel", name that Robert Plant gave to Gwyn Ashton, Welsh guitar player, author and singer, living in Australia.

The event concludes with a tribute concert to Wolfram Minnemann, a German pianist and singer who lives in Porto since 1973.

Tickets are available for sale online and in the usual places. Price tickets range from 20 euros (one day) and 30 euros (two-day ticket).
