The Municipality of Porto, through the municipal company Porto Vivo, SRU opened a tender for 10 affordable income dwellings that have been rehabilitated in the Historic Centre. Applications run until 29 November. When the process concludes, the dwellings will be awarded by drawing among the selected candidates.

This is a step further in the municipal programme regarding affordable lease. Already in August, Porto welcomed new residents to Morro da Sé. At present, there are 10 ready to inhabit dwelling units, ranging from one-bedroom apartment to two or three-bedroom apartments at Rua de Mouzinho da Silveira, Rua dos Pelames, Rua dos Mercadores and Rua da Arménia.

The Tender programme is available for consultation at the website of Porto Vivo, SRU - Sociedade de Reabilitação Urbana or at the municipal company's headquarters, located at Rua de Mouzinho da Silveira, n. 208 to 214.

Rent process start at 273 euros for a one-bedroom apartment (T1), and 632 euros is the maximum value for a three-bedroom apartment (T3 triplex).

Candidate's effort rate should not exceed 35% and among the eligibility criteria the programme determines the maximum income per calendar year and the suitable family composition for each apartment type.

The qualification process states that candidates with effective residency in Porto for four years or, at least, one member of the household that works or does business in the city of Porto for a minimum period of six months will be scale up. The programme also values household youth.

The dwellings under the property of Porto Vivo, SRU underwent profound rehabilitation works. Those interested can visit the premises upon prior application till 5th November, via the email rendasacessiveis@portovivosru.pt. No applications will be accepted beyond this date.

The ten dwellings will be awarded to candidates by drawing in a TBA date and streaming will be ensured in a digital format. The period for submitting applications is from 26 October and 29 November.

It is worth highlighting that this is only a branch of Porto's Housing Action Plan, namely housing policy and affordable housing in Porto Historic Centre. Yesterday, 26th October, the Municipal Executive voted the allotment of Monte da Bela, in the Parish of Campanhã, which will enable to build circa 244 Middle Class dwellings.
