Tap water in Porto reaches the "safe water" index of 99.85%

The municipal company Águas do Porto lab has carried out 940 tests of the drinking water in the city, since the contingency plan was put in place and the "safe water" index was 99.85%. 

It is vital that drinking tap water is maintained and that this water is safe to drink, under the fight of Covid-19; thus, Águas do Porto continues to guarantee the quality control of tap water quality, either on the water main pipes and the reservoirs.

Also, under the contingency plan to fight the spread of the new coronavirus, the municipal company "Águas do Porto" ensures the services needed by the population, such as water supply, Porto's sewerage and drainage network and analytical control so that tap water is fit for human consumption.

Águas do Porto also continues to follow the recommendations by the Services Regulatory Authority for Water and Waste (ERSAR), the National Health Authority as well as the regional health authorities.

It should be mentioned that Águas do Porto front desk are provisionally closed due to contingency plans under the pandemic; however, permanent contact between the services and citizens are ensured via phone service or digital contact.

A support line was established, based on an online chat, where citizens can ask questions and clarify doubts.
