Talkdesk continues to grow in Porto and opens new facilities, providing another 250 high-skilled jobs.

The cloud-based software provider call centre, headquartered in San Francisco, CA moved to UPTEC in Porto in 2017. Two years past, this fast growing business with a "unicorn status", inaugurated its new premises at the Invicta, located at Rua de Anselmo Brancaamp, boosting employment creation.

Mayor Rui Moreira, vice-Mayor Filipe Araújo and councillor for Economy, Tourism and Trade, Ricardo Valente attended the opening ceremony, on 4 May.

The emergence of technological centres of excellence in Porto and the new breed of professionally managed major businesses that are coming to town is something that Mayor Rui Moreira sees as the result of the current competitive urban profile of the city of Porto.

In fact, the dedicated attention to the urban environment, as far as urban transport and related eco-strategies are concerned (eco bus), the level of education (Porto University is included in the major higher education rankings), as well as the innovation ecosystem are main drivers to attract potential investors, both national and international, to the city of Porto.

Talkdesk's CEO, Tiago Paiva, stated "this is key to the company's success" and "we are thrilled to grow in a city as vibrant as Porto regarding the innovation and technological ecosystem".

This investment in Porto results in the creation of 250 direct jobs. Highly trained professionals and engineers in the areas of Information Technology.

Porto takes the leading role in the startup ecosystem, as the Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira has set up a public body for investment undertaking in the city and in the region, Invest Porto.
