The festivities of São João do Porto, aka St John in Porto have been selected "Best Festivity" under the Iberian Festival Awards 5th edition, which was held this past Saturday, 17th October. The ceremony was held online, owing to the new coronavirus pandemic.

The public voted and the first time the Festivities of St John are part of the nominees they get selected as "best Festivity of the Year". The Iberian Festival Awards is organised by APORFEST and, every year, it awards festivities, music festivals and festivals of other cultural aspects in Portugal and in Spain.

The gala for the 5th edition of the event was scheduled for last March, but it was postponed due to the pandemic. On 17th October it took the online format.

The awards refer to last year, and as usual, the winners are selected according to different jurors; in the case of the Festas de São João in Porto, the jurors were the public.

The ten finalists to the "Best Festivity" award comprised, other than the Festa de São João do Porto, the following Iberian events and festivals: Agrival (PT); Aste Nagusia (SP); the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (SP); Expofacic (PT); the Feira de São Mateus (PT); the Festival do Queixo (SP); La Tomatina (SP); The Semana Grande de San Sebastián (SP); and the Sexta-Feira 13 de Montalegre (PT).
