Portugal conquered, for the first time, the Ecotrophelia Europe competition, in the field of agri-food industry. The team OrangeBee was the national winner to this European competition for students who come up with innovative products.

The 2020 edition of the Ecotrophelia Europe comprised the participation of 13 countries, in a total of 14 international Higher Studies institutions.

OrangeBee, a fermented preparation of Aquafaba, which can be an egg and dairy substitute, was the innovative product developed by two college students of the University of Aveiro, Bárbara Vitoriano and Adelaide Olim, and it was the grand winner of the Ecotrophelia Europe 2020.

This result is a milestone for the Portuguese participation in the European competition, the fourth, which is held since 2008, clearly telling of the entrepreneurship and innovative skills that are part of the Portuguese students DNA.

Last September, these two university students had celebrated first place in the Ecotrophelia Portugal edition, promoted by PortugalFoods and support by Porto City Hall.
