Porto ranks at the top of the most exciting cities to live, says Time Out

Let's cut to the chase, shall we? Porto is the jewel on the top of the crown of the best cities to discover in your lifetime.

The City Life Index has quizzed 15,000 people from 32 cities all across the globe to discover the most thrilling cities in the world. The targeted consultation was conducted between December 2017 and January 2018. The results of this comprehensive global survey are as follows: Porto (Portugal) is second only to Chicago in the United States.

You know the feeling of belonging and the pride to belong to a place on earth? People from Porto know it very well. In no other place people have stated so clearly (95%) "I am from Porto and I am proud!"

It is also the best city in the world "for making friends (81%), finding love (46%) and keeping in touch with family".

 "What has changed in your city?" was one of the questions asked in the City Life Index. Forty-nine per cent of the people in Porto said the city "has changed a lot, for the best", and 14% said it "has changed a bit, it is better".

These figures add up to the global feeling that the city of Porto is indeed flourishing, and that is why it ranked second, ahead of other 9 European cities included in this 2018 City Life Index Rank, namely Paris, Berlin, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Zurich, London, Edinburgh and Manchester.

Not all is rosy in Porto, for instance, salaries are low, and people also mentioned tourism hustles (20%), housing shortage (19%), followed by homelessness (13%), traffic (12%) and gentrification (11%).

The city of Porto is in the cutting edge in this exciting cities rank! Surely, it has its pros and cons, but at the end of the day that is the place where you want to go and celebrate life!
