The IndieJunior Allianz Film Festival fourth edition happens in Porto from 28 January to 2 February. The theme for this year's child and juvenile festival is "A Viagem" ["The Voyage", free translation].

For six days, the most creative and original children's feature and short films will be screened in different venues in Porto, namely at Rivoli Theater, Almeida Garrett Municipal Library, Casa das Artes and at the rectory of the University of Porto.

The discovery of new worlds and everyday places will lead cinema goers through a journey in and out cinema walls. The highlight, this edition, is the work of Norman McLaren, one of the most relevant Scottish filmmakers and a pioneer of cinematographic animation techniques, namely produce animation straight up from the film.

Norman McLaren's work was mostly supported by the National Cinema Secretariat of Canada (NFB). Mclaren was born in Scotland and entered the Glasgow Fine Arts Faculty in 1932. His interest rapidly grew into the silver screen. He kicks off his career in 1934 and both national and international acknowledgment are almost immediate.

Alongside the festival programming, there is also an international competition for feature and short films, with around 50 recent films (fiction, documentaries, and animations).

Some of the films competing for the awards are selected by students from pre-school to high school, in the scope of the "I programme a film festival!" initiative, organised in partnership with the Parallel Program of the Municipal Theatre of Porto.
