As of 1st June, libraries, museums and Historic archive open doors

Porto City Hall cultural facilities, namely public libraries, the City Museum and the Historic Archive open doors stating 1st June. Due to the new coronavirus pandemic there will be access restrictions and new rules to comply with, in line with the DGS guidelines, like the mandatory use of a mask. 

Public Municipal Libraries of Porto - Public Municipal library, located at the Garden of S. Lázaro, and the Almeida Garrett Municipal Library can be visited only upon prior appointment, by phone or by email. The consultation of documents follows the same procedure, and each reading room has a maximum user capacity.

Regarding domiciliary loaning, users can consult the online catalogue of the library for books, CD's and DVD's, and requests must be addressed by email or by phone. Upon this, users must await contact by the Public Library to schedule a delivery date.

Face-to-face service is done individually and loan are effect with stated period of 30 days.

Users are requested to follow hygiene and care measures when handling documents or books. Upon delivery, materials (documents and books) will be quarantined, for a period of five days and will be dully sanitized before circulating again.

Also, it is not possible to lend or circulate newspapers and magazines to the public. Access to computers is only possible starting on 1st July.

Visits to the "Gabinete do Som", namely the exhibition "coração" of the City Museum, located inside the BPMP, there is a maximum capacity of two visitors.

The Historic Archive, located at Casa do Infante, also features the same rules; previous appointment and maxim visitors' capacity

Research must be carried out beforehand online, so users know beforehand which documents to consult.

The City Museum Network reopens the Gabinete do Tempo, at the Casa do Infante; Extensão do Romantismo; Casa Marta Ortigão Sampaio; Casa Guerra Junqueiro and the Gabinete do Desenho.

These cultural facilities allow free visits, with no need to prior register, but new rules have to be observed, due to the current pandemic; the maximum visitor capacity id five and there is the mandatory requirement to use a mask.

Porto Municipal Gallery, located at the Gardens of Palácio de Cristal, had already announced the reopening on 2nd June, with anew exhibition calendar.
