April is devoted to books and to reading in Public libraries

April is here, so it means that the magic of reading is all around the city. Municipal Libraries in Porto promote a programme devoted to the pleasure of reading with a broad range of activities.

Built-in the topic of "Everyone reading!", the programme strategy underpins an integrated effort to mark the importance of books, and how useful they are, within the World Children's Book Day, on April 2 and the World Book Day and Copyright, on April 23.

In addition to these activities, there is a reading incentive plan, whereas each reader that borrows a book from a public library, be it the Almeida Garrett (BMAG) or the Porto Municipal Library is offered another one.

The BMAG also doubles the number of borrowings (eight books, four CD's and DVD's and four journals).

In the context of the "Everyone reading!" programme, the Almeida Garrett Municipal Library opens the exhibit "6x4 - six books, four illustrators" on April 6, in the main hall of the BMAG.

This exhibit will be on show till May 26. Visitors will have the opportunity to enter the realm of books.
